WHAT: This three hour workshop will demonstrate a variety of methods for making unique, one-off prints called monotypes. Students will explore the endless possibilities for creating imagery, patterns, and rich, layered compositions using found objects–many collected and recycled, such as leaves and other natural materials. These methods yield often unpredictable results, fueling experimentation and unexpected new directions.
Course objectives and outcomes:
- Be introduced to the gelli plate method
- Experiment and use textured objects as a means of printing
- Explore color and composition
- Learn to rescue an ‘ugly print’
