Prime Day is like Christmas in July and I am ready to get stocked up on all of my favorite art supplies, tools, and gadgets just like I did last year! Did you know that Amazon puts over 100,000 items on sale?! That means its a great time to get some great deals! While new deals seem to be emerging by the minute, I thought I’d let you in on some of my favorite art supplies that might be on sale for Amazon Prime Day. When is Prime Day?

Prime Day is actually two days. July 11th – July 12th, and lasts for 48 hours. It begins at 3AM Eastern Time. If you live in Pacific Daylight Time or Central like me, be sure to set your alarm if you want to be the first to shop for special offers during this 48-hour event. What’s so Special about Prime Day?

Prime Day is Amazon’s twice annual sales event. Prime Day showcases deals on major brands and small brands alike. Prime Day is a shopping day held exclusively for anyone who is an Amazon Prime subscriber. Think of it like holiday shopping for members only. If you haven’t signed up to get a membership yet, don’t wait! You can still sign up here. Also, don’t forget that Amazon orders very often have free shipping with a membership. Amazon Prime is an exclusive membership and the deals are catered to your preferences.

How Much is Amazon Prime?

At the time of printing, Amazon Prime membership is $14.99 per month or $139 per year. However, you can do a free 30-day trial of Prime before deciding to go all in!

Does Prime Day have deals?

Yes! If you go into Prime Day prepared, you can score some amazing deals. It is best to fill up your cart in advance because sometimes sale items have limited quantities. Amazon’s Prime Day is a huge sale in the world’s biggest one-stop shop. Many items in all of Amazon’s categories have low prices like the ones you might see on Black Friday. Yes, it is that good! Also, they have an Amazon Prime early access sale with deals starting right now. All of it can be found here.

How Often Does Amazon Do Prime Day Deals?

This year, Amazon is doing prime day a little bit differently. Thousands of items will be deeply discounted. But for more expensive or popular items, they’re trying something new. Instead of the proverbial “rushing the store” on Prime Day, they’ll have a lottery system. On high ticket and popular deals, Amazon is adding a yellow button with an invite code. If you get the code on actual Prime Day, you’ll get the discount. This way, it is no longer first come first serve which was inconvenient for anyone who didn’t want to get up at 3AM. Be sure to click on the invite code before prime day begins! The downside? You might never get a code. It is, in fact, a lottery.

Does Prime Day Apply to Everything?

No. Not everything is on sale. But there sure is a lot!

What are Lightning Deals?

Lightning deals are deals that don’t last long. By not long, I mean just a few hours. The item typically says how long it will be discounted so you’ll need to act fast. You can view the lightning deals 30 minutes before they go live. On a lightning deal, there is a ticker that shows how much time is left before the sale ends. It should also tell you the percentage of available inventory left.

Is Prime Day Only Two Days?

Yes and no. Prime Day historically was 2 days, but the deals start the week before over on the deals page. This means they’ve already started – so go do some major shopping!

What are invite only deals?

As you browse Amazon ahead of Prime Day, you might notice that there are some invite-only deals. This is a new feature this year to prevent people from having to log on to Amazon at 3AM. You’ll head to the product’s page and click “request invite” to snag one of these most desirable products. While most of these are not craft supplies, there are various products available that you might want to purchase. You can request an invite which essentially puts you into a lottery. If you receive an email on Prime Day, you are eligible to get the deal. The best part is that you don’t have to purchase anything unless you want to – even if you asked for the invite. A word of advice? Ask for an invite now because once Prime Day starts, it will be too late and this is a great way to get a discount on the site’s products that don’t often go on sale.
